ShadowControl for Mac OS X – windows without shadows

Posted on August 14, 2009 by admin

Screenshots of the open windows of running applications are everyday life. There is no limitations to the Mac OS X only. Screenshots are taken in almost every operating system. Since I am dealing mostly with Macs, I use system tool for simple screenshots and LittleSnapper if I need to blur something. Usually I take a screenshot of an open window with shadows it casts. This is fine and looks like that:

With the limited space, this feature makes proper part of screenshot smaller, since shadow is a part of picture. Thanks to ShadowControl by Thoughtful Tree Software we can switch it off during taking a screenshot.

This is of course matter of taste and you have to decide do you prefer screenshots with or without shadows. I prefer shadows, but in some situations, when the window is rather big, this app will be very handy.
