Yesterday Microsoft announced that next version of MS Office for Mac will be released in late 2010 (probably about Christmas) and it will contain Outlook that will replace Entourage.

Manager of Mac Business branch of Microsoft – Erich Wilfrid – also announced that Outlook for Mac will be written using modern Cocoa framework and it will use new and better database, instead of that used by Entourage (reported as overgrown). New database will integrate better with Time Machine and Spotlight search. Outlook for Mac won’t match all features of its Windows brother, however both apps will be fully compatible. MS Office for Mac will be offered in two editions: Home and Student edition and Business edition.
