MenuTunes for Mac OS X – something for those who were late for Coversutra birthday

Posted on February 12, 2009 by admin

On 23th Jan 2009 the most popular iTunes add on – Coversutra – celebrated its birthday. On this day everyone had the opportunity to get this paid program for free. Birthday unfortunately ended and again Coversutra costs a little. To all those who have not managed to wish all the best and were too late for the birthday gift (according to the Tolkien’s Hobbits’ tradition where gifts were distributed by jubilate) I recommend one of its free alternatives – MenuTunes by iThink Software.

MenuTunes

MenuTunes, as Coversutra, nests in the menu bar and, like its paid counterpart is visible in the form of two quaver notes icon.

MenuTunes provides information about the title of the song and the performer, together with the cover art of the album and rating. All that information is places in a in a special cloudlet that is visible only for a certain time, determined by the user.

MenuTunes

MenuTunes has the built-in LastFM srobller and, like Coversutra, can post our playlists on this site.

Other interesting feature that are worth to mention is MenuTunes ability to play iTunes music from another Mac that is on the same network.

The program can be downloaded from: http://www.ithinksw.com/menutunes
