aLaunch and TODOS – your own apps’ menu in Mac OS X

Quite recently on my Polish blog I presented TODOS an alternative to appearing in the dock Mac OS X shortcut to the application directory. I – personally don like much the standard, system solution for Mac OS X, but has been using the pop-up list of applications. As some of the applications I use rather seldom, but they are required to me, that I do not keep them in the system dock (where it occurs to me sometimes run them by accident). On the other hand, if I already have to run them I do not like to dig though a long list of all apps that are available in the system. The alternative mentioned above is an app caled TODOS (http://dbachrach.com/opensoft/index.php?page=Todos)by Open Soft Developement. TODOS creates an application menu cloud available through the combination of the keys (cmd+ctr+opt t).
TODOS is convenient solution only if the number of applications is rather low (it is possible to choose applications to be shown in TODOS). However, you can not easily categorize applications, and you can not make the appropriate menu and sub menus. The best and easy solution, available directly from the menu bar is a free app called aLaunch (http://mactips-lib.net/m/software/alunch/en/main.html)
aLaunch enables user to create a comfortable drop down menu available through the menu bar icon. The menu created that way is a bit similar to that commonly known in Windows.
